- Doug Whyte has over twelve years of experience with documentary film in a variety of roles, including instructor, event producer, programmer and filmmaker. Whyte spent several years as the Program Coordinator for the Webster University Film Series in Saint Louis, MO, USA, and then moved on to found the Media Arts Department for KDHX Community Media where he is currently serving as the Director of Media Arts Programs. In addition to managing the department and its support programs for filmmakers, Whyte created the International Documentary Challenge (www.docchallenge.org), a timed filmmaking competition where filmmakers from around the world have five days to make a short documentary with the finalists premiering at Hot Docs in Toronto. Whyte also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture (NAMAC), is a member of the Programming Committee for the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, MT and recently sat on the festival juries for Big Sky and Dokufest in Kosovo. Whyte lives and works in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Doc Challenge Registration Now Open
For the third straight year, The International Documentary Challenge returns to the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto. This year's challenge takes place March 5-9, 2009 with the Hot Docs premiere of the Finalists in early May. Early Registration is now open at http://www.docchallenge.org/
